One important element of Iknow’s consulting methodology is the use of pilots and prototypes. Iknow incorporates experimentation, rapid prototyping, and pilots as part of its overall consulting project delivery process. We believe that these techniques are highly effective at facilitating early and accurate end-user needs identification and requirements gathering.
Prototypes also demonstrate to our clients that we fully understand and grasp their key business issues and that we can translate what we have heard from the various stakeholders during interviews and workshops into appropriate solutions. We use prototypes to introduce and test new processes and new software tools, and to make sure that our proposed solutions integrate well with existing databases and applications.

Iknow has specific processes for collecting and analyzing end user comments and opinions from prototypes and pilots. Because prototypes and pilots are excellent ways of communicating ideas and stimulating end-user feedback, we may undertake several prototype and/or pilot iterations, which allow us to concentrate on a more manageable number of issues at any one time. Experimentation, rapid prototyping, and pilots also provide data useful in supporting the KM business case and initial ROI projections.
During the course of the pilot project, Iknow monitors the usage of the technology by the target population and deals with the cultural, behavioral, and political issues that often arise when adopting new KM and collaborative technologies. These issues can be addressed through a variety of techniques, including user training, coaching, and conducting communications and public relations programs. At the completion of the pilot project, Iknow measures the overall effectiveness of the pilot against the threshold measurement criteria. The results of the pilot are documented and reported to management.
